Approximately 2,500 A-State Students to Graduate at Spring Commencement

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University will hold its 2024 Spring Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 4, at First National Bank Arena, 217 Olympic Drive. 

Approximately 2,500 students are candidates for graduation. 
 
The ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The events are open to the public and seating for friends and family will be first-come, first-choice. 
 
41 students have achieved a 4.0 GPA to graduate summa cum laude, 152 with a GPA of 3.80-3.99 will graduate magna cum laude, and 160 will graduate cum laude with a GPA of 3.60-3.79. A-State also will recognize academic achievement by 86 students in the Honors College.  
 
Dr. Todd Shields, chancellor, and Dr. Calvin White Jr., provost and executive vice chancellor, will confer degrees upon graduates from eight colleges. The morning ceremony will include the Neil Griffin College of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Communication, College of Nursing and Health Professions, and University College.  
 
The afternoon ceremony includes the College of Agriculture, College of Education and Behavorial Science, College of Engineering and Computer Science, and Beck College of Sciences and Mathematics.  
 
The student speaker at the morning commencement ceremony will be Distinguished Service Award winner Ann Long of Jackson, Mo., who is graduating with a double major in political science and history from the College of Liberal Arts and Communication.  
 
The second ceremony will feature Natan Gomez of Irapuato, Mexico, winner of the Wilson Award. Gomez is graduating with a 4.0 GPA with a degree in biotechnology from the Beck College of Sciences and Mathematics.   

All parking near First National Bank Arena will be available with gates up. Parking on grass surfaces will not be permitted. There is a clear bag policy that will be enforced. Doors will open 90 minutes before the ceremony begins.
