Red Wolf Works
Red Wolf Works provides a platform for faculty and students to work collaboratively on real-world projects that assist students in the development of professional skills, community and global relationships, and service-minded thinking.
A student may be nominated by faculty/staff or may self-nominate for a Signature Experience project. The student must do work that goes above and beyond the typical/expected effort in a curricular or co-curricular area and that results in a tangible outcome. The Signature Experience may be interdisciplinary, global-minded, service-oriented, scholarly focused, or creatively focused.
A faculty member may propose a Signature Course that is an interdisciplinary, experiential learning experience and that results in a tangible outcome for students.
Signature Experiences and Signature Courses should align with the Red Wolf Works learning objectives:
- Thoughtful integration of academic knowledge applied in a practical setting.
- Refined interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Analytical and organizational skills and understandings necessary to produce a deliverable.
- Knowledge of community and/or global solutions.
- Demonstration of service-minded thinking.
The Red Wolf Works campus committee will consider Signature Experience nominees for Fall 2023 at 2 – 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and 3 – 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13. Contact Jennifer Salo at jsalo@AState.edu to nominate a student or schedule a presentation.

Information for Students
Red Wolf Works seeks to recognize students for work in classes or campus activities that has gone substantially above and beyond the normal expected role through the Signature Experience program.
What is a Signature Experience?
Red Wolf Works Signature Experience is a signature learning experience which allows students to have real-world educational opportunities that challenge you to go above and beyond a traditional class or leadership role. Signature Experiences must meet at least one of the following criteria of interdisciplinary, global-minded, service-oriented, or scholarly-focused, and produce a tangible outcome. After a Signature Experience, students should be able to 1) evaluate their own learning and personal development through reflection and analysis; 2) connect their Signature Experience with other curricular and life experiences to broaden their thinking; and 3) articulate the meaning and impact of their learning and growth to a broader audience.
How can I be nominated for a Signature Experience?
Students may nominate themselves for Signature Experience recognition.
Students who are self-nominated will be expected to obtain a statement of endorsement from the faculty or staff-member who instructed the class or directed the leadership position.
How could I be recognized?
If selected for Signature Experience recognition, the students will receive a medallion to wear at graduation and will be recognized during Convocation of Scholars in April.
How can I apply?
A student will need to complete a Signature Experience application. If the application is accepted, the supervising faculty or staff member will be contacted to provide support for your application.
If support is provided from the supervising faculty or staff member then the nominated student will be expected to complete a capstone experience to summarize and reflect on their merit. The capstone ensures students have a culminating experience and provides an avenue for the Advisory Board to assess the student learning outcomes as stated in the mission. Capstones range from reflective journals to presentations and are determined in conjunction with the referring party.
The final step is to present the capstone project to the Red Wolf Works board. After your presentation, the Red Wolf Works board will determine if your project/experience meets the criteria for Signature Experience recognition. You will be notified of the award decision by email within one week after the Red Wolf Works meeting.
