It is my privilege to serve as the founding dean of the Arkansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM).
Arkansas is one of the few remaining states without a CVM and the new college will not only be a great addition to the A-State campus, but will be a tremendous resource for the entire state of Arkansas and the Mid-South by helping to meet veterinary workforce shortages in our region. I have been gratified by the overwhelming sense of support from colleagues in the veterinary profession, agriculture organizations, state agencies and animal owners throughout Arkansas.
We will institute a student-centered teaching and academic program, which will prepare students for clinical practice as well as a multitude of other career opportunities available to veterinarians. We will employ talented faculty, committed to teaching with expertise in their specializations. The courses will have sufficient breadth and rigor to assure graduates are well prepared to pass the NAVLE licensing exam and will have the knowledge and skills to support successful careers.
We have ambitious goals and we invite you to watch us grow.
