Bhandari Comments on Advertising Strategy

Dr. Manu Bhandari, assistant professor of strategic communication, was interviewed by Arkansas Public Media for a broadcast news story about the effects of court-ordered tobacco industry advertising. In the story, Bhandari provided analysis about the approach that tobacco companies used to present corrective advertising messages, and how these advertising strategies contrast with those ordinarily used in conventional sales campaigns.

Jeong Achieves Professional License Jeong Achieves Professional License

Congratulations to Dr. Hyunju Jeong, assistant professor of civil engineering, on earning her professional engineering license from the Arkansas State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Jeong, who joined the faculty in 2016, completed her Ph.D. at Georgia Tech. Her research interest is sustainable water systems and life cycle assessment. She teaches environmental engineering, water and waste treatment, and mechanics of materials.

 
Study Looks at Alumni Giving Perceptions

Dr. John D. Hall (right), Chris Williams, Dr. Kris Biondolillo and Dr. Craig Jones prepared a presentation for the Midsouth Educational Research Association (MSERA) annual meeting in Starkville, Miss., on their study of student scholarship recipients' perceptions of charitable giving. Williams is a graduate student in the Ed.S. school psychology program; Hall (who presented the study), Biondolillo and Jones are professors in Psychology and Counseling.

Long Discusses Senior Concerns at Expo Long Discusses Senior Concerns at Expo

Dr. Jody Long, assistant professor of social work, made a presentation on dealing with depression and anxiety during the Senior Expo, sponsored by the UAMS Center on Aging-Northeast, at Nettleton Baptist Church. Three of his case management class students also provided depression and anxiety screenings. Long also has given recent interviews on this subject for local television and radio.
