Chancellor Damphousse Makes Quarterly Report

In a video now available online, Chancellor Kelly Damphousse issues his quarterly report to the Arkansas State University Board of Trustees regarding faculty, staff and student achievements and recent campus developments. The report touches on retention improvement, the Pack Pact sexual assault awareness campaign, Black History Month, Beck PRIDE Center visitors, V.C. Kays House preview, and other significant campus activities.

Vickrey's Photography Selected for Top 100 Vickrey's Photography Selected for Top 100

Photography by Kimberly Vickrey, professor of graphic design, was included in an exhibition of the top 100 published creations in a year-end juried competition by Creative Quarterly, an international art and design journal. The exhibition was at the One Thirty Six Gallery in New York. Vickrey creates digitally designed equestrian photographs; the selected image of a white stallion was taken in Southern France.

A manuscript by Dr. Sharon Davis, associate professor of counseling, and one of her students, Ariel Nations, has been published in the peer-reviewed Rehabilitation Counselors and Educators Journal. In the article, Davis and Nations discuss how service animals differ from emotional support animals. They also provide rehabilitation counselors with a review of federal laws covering the rights of persons in need of emotional support animals.

 
Ruby and Ruby Present Paper on New App

Drs. Ralph and Paula Ruby, professors of computer and information technology, presented a paper at the Southeast Decision Sciences Institute’s annual conference. Their presentation also will be published in the SEDSI proceedings. The paper, "Class Notes: The Next Innovation in Note-Taking for Student Note-Takers," refers to the "Class Notes" mobile app they are developing for the Apple iPad.

Kennon Directs Northeast Arkansas Science Fair

Dr. Tillman Kennon, professor of science education and associate department chair, served as director of the 62nd annual Northeast Arkansas Regional Science Fair. Senior high and junior high students from schools in 19 participating counties competed in the fair, displaying their projects in Centennial Hall. Sponsored by the university and private donors, the Science Fair brings hundreds of prospective students to campus each year.
