Bednar Chairs Government Affairs Committee Bednar Chairs Government Affairs Committee

Annette Bednar, assistant professor of clinical laboratory science, has been appointed chair of the Government Affairs Committee for the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS). The committee works on influencing the formulation of public policy on health care issues vital to the profession and to patients. She conducts monthly conference calls with ASCLS members to inform them on current legislative issues.

 
Long and Student to Present at Conference

A presentation by Dr. Jody Long, assistant professor of social work, and graduate social work student Christopher Russell has been accepted for the National Association of Social Workers' Arkansas branch conference in Little Rock next month. With the topic "Transgender Resources for Social Workers in Clinical Practice," they plan to present current resources that are readily accessible for clinical social workers.

Tunno and Huss to Make Joint Presentation Tunno and Huss to Make Joint Presentation

Dr. Ferebee Tunno (left), associate professor of statistics, and Dr. Martin Huss, associate professor of botany, will make a joint presentation Monday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m. in the White River Room, Reng Student Union. Their topic "What Are Facts?" will be an in-depth discussion of how mathematical reasoning and the scientific method help us better understand the natural and physical worlds. The session is open to everyone.

 
Segall is Lead Author of Invited Journal Articles

Dr. Richard Segall, professor of computer and information technology, is lead author of two articles that were invited by the editors of the International Journal of Fog Computing. One is titled “Big Data and Its Visualization with Fog Computing” and is available here. The other article, titled "Overview of Big Data-Intensive Storage and its Technologies for Cloud and Fog Computing," is online here.

Sullivan's Paintings Included in LR Exhibition Sullivan's Paintings Included in LR Exhibition

Paintings by Cara Sullivan, instructor in art, are included in "Flourish," a two-person exhibition that opens Friday in the Trinity Gallery for Arkansas Artists at the Historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock. An opening reception for Sullivan and Jessica Mongeon, the other artist, will start at 5 p.m. in the museum store. Their work will be on display in the gallery through April 7. Details are online.
