Long is New Executive Director of Heritage Sites

Dr. Adam Long has been promoted to executive director of Arkansas Heritage Sites. Previously he was director of the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center (HPMEC), and interim executive director since June. At HPMEC, Long expanded the museum’s programming to include reading retreats, special writers’ retreats for military veterans, short fiction contests, writers-in-residence and themed events. He earned his Ph.D. in American literature at Kansas. More details are in a news release.

Researchers Demonstrate Energy Enhancement Researchers Demonstrate Energy Enhancement

Researchers in the College of Engineering and Computer Science have analytically demonstrated localized field and energy enhancement in systems of core-shell nanoparticles. The team, led by Dr. Brandon Kemp, professor of electrical engineering, published the work in the Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications. The paper was co-authored by Kemp and recent Master of Science in Engineering graduate Mohammad Rahaman, and the work has funding from the NSF EPSCoR program.

 
Abernathy is Production Designer for 'Fantasticks'

Claire Abernathy, associate professor of theatre, is production designer for The Link Theatre’s inaugural production, "The Fantasticks," which will open March 6. While her emphasis at A-State is in costume design, her training was more extensive and included lighting design, so she is enjoying the fresh professional challenge. The Link will utilize many props from the original and touring productions, making her work as designer more interesting.

Carroll Recognized by NASA for Outreach Carroll Recognized by NASA for Outreach

Dr. Ross Carroll, associate professor of physics, has been selected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to serve as a Solar System Ambassador for 2020. JPL Ambassadors provide public engagement in space science and solar system exploration primarily through outreach events. Carroll, along with the Red Wolf Space Program student club, will hold a series of astronomy and astrophysics demonstrations at A-State and Northeast Arkansas.

 
Hunt and Mello Write Third Marketing Textbook

Dr. Shane Hunt (left), R.M. “Bob” Wood Endowed Professor in Sales Leadership and professor of marketing, along with Dr. John Mello (right), professor of supply chain management, have co-authored a new textbook, Principles of Marketing, which has been published by McGraw Hill. This is the authors' third published textbook. Their marketing textbooks have been used by more than 100,000 college students across every state and 10 countries.
