ASU SBTDC helps businesses grow with LinkedIn workshop

07/23/2012

The Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) is offering a “LinkedIn Fundamentals: Grow Your Professional Network” seminar Thursday, July 26, from 1-4 p.m., to show business professionals the basics needed to put LinkedIn to work for their organization.

The seminar will be held in Room 201 at the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development Building, 319 University Loop West on the ASU campus in Jonesboro.

The workshop instructor, Herb Lawrence, ASU SBTDC center director, has been assisting businesses to get the most of out of social media sites like LinkedIn.

“For the ASU SBTDC, LinkedIn has been a very effective tool to help us locate other professionals in the local business community, find customers for our consulting assistance programs, and to market our workshops directly to interested business owners who will get the most out of the training,” said Lawrence.  “LinkedIn can work for your business as well.

“But, LinkedIn is like any other social media network—you have to work it to get the results. No social media network is a ‘silver bullet’ that will bring thousands of customers just because you sign up to join it.  Social media networks require time and commitment, but the return on investment can be well worth the effort, especially with LinkedIn.”

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional social media network with well over 80 million members and allows users to connect with trusted professionals to exchange information, ideas, and locate potential customers. LinkedIn is a social network for businesses to connect with other businesses and potential customers to help grow their bottom line.

Cost is $35 per person, $25 for Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Jonesboro members, $20 for ASU faculty, staff and students.   Register by calling the ASU SBTDC (870) 972-3517, e-mail your registration to asusbtdc@astate.edu or on-line and http://asbtdc.ualr.edu/training/jonesboro.asp.
