Bassoon Quartet to Present Recital Performance

JONESBORO – The Department of Music at Arkansas State University will present the Bassoon Quartet in recital on Monday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.  This event is free and open to the public.

This fall semester program is being presented as a preparation for the group's entry in the Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition state preliminaries that will be held on Nov. 7.

Members of the quartet are Taylor Gambill, Nathan Liouh and Brianna Allen, all of Jonesboro, and Lane Hall of Salem.  They are under the direction of Dr. Dale Clark, professor of bassoon studies at A-State.

Works to be featured in the performance include “Concerto Le Phenix” by Michel Corrette, “The Flight of the Bumblebee” by Nicholai Rimsky-Korsakoff and arranged by Alan Hawkins, “Six Trios, No. 6 Polka” by Julius Weissenborn, “Sonata, Op. 10. No. 2 (3rd movement)” by Ludwig van Beethoven and arranged by Dr. Dale Clark, “Celtic Reflections” by Bill Douglas, and “Humorous Scherzo, Op. 12, No. 9” by Sergei Prokofiev.
