Kalee Haywood selected as outstanding student among Who's Who recipients

Kalee Haywood, a senior English major from Piggott, has been selected as the outstanding recipient among the group representing Arkansas State University in Who’s Who Among Students for 2011.

Haywood, who plans to graduate in May 2012, was recognized at an awards ceremony at ASU where she received a $500 award sponsored by Crews and Associates, an investment banking firm in Little Rock.

She has numerous academic honors and organizations to her name including receiving a Chancellor’s Scholarship, making the Chancellor’s list every semester she’s attended ASU, a member of Phi Kappa Phi and the Golden Key honor societies and the National Society of Collegiate Scholarships.

Haywood also serves as the treasurer for ASU’s Pre-Law Club, was a two-time Honors Ambassador for the Honors College Association. A member of the ASU Moot Court Team, she also holds membership in Delta Epsilon Iota Honors Society and the ASU Literary Society.

Among her extracurricular activities, Haywood serves as the philanthropy coordinator for Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, is a Chancellor’s Ambassador, a member of the Student Activities Board and an orientation leader at ASU in 2010.

She also served as a photographer for WolfTracks Yearbook for three consecutive years.

A tireless volunteer, Haywood has worked with multiple fundraising projects, the 2010 Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome; Up To Dawn which unites students, staff and campus communities with the goal to end childhood cancer. Students help raise awareness and support for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through a variety of activities; the 2011 Cerebral Palsy Telethon and the 2010 Miracle Rodeo. The Miracle Rodeo is held each year for children and adults with special needs.

Following graduation from ASU, Haywood plans to begin law school in Little Rock in the fall of 2012 and study civil, business or international law.

She is the daughter of Rick and Donna Haywood of Piggott.
