JONESBORO – Two members of the Department of Music faculty at Arkansas State University will perform in concert, Monday, Jan. 27, for the department's faculty recital series. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr.

Dr. Kristin Leitterman, who teaches oboe and English horn, and Emily Trapp Jenkins, collaborative pianist, will present the concert, themed "American Voyages."

The program will feature three pieces that depict places around the country.  The trip begins in colonial Boston at the site of the Boston Massacre with a premiere performance of "Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod," by Ian Wiese.

Next stop is Joshua Tree National Park for "Three Desert Fables," by Jenni Brandon, which tells three stories about relationships between plants, animals and insects found throughout the park.

Final stop is 1940s New York City, the home of a new immigrant, with "Postcards from America" by Susan Kander.  Representatives of the A-State Heritage Studies Ph.D. program and Media Studies Department will collaborate on the program.

Admission is free.  For more information about this or other Department of Music presentations, one may call (870) 972-2094.
