Panel to Discuss Women in the Workplace March 13

JONESBORO – A panel of six professional women who are experts in their career field will convene to discuss their paths to success and participate in a question and answer session at “Women in the Workplace,” Tuesday, March 13, at 6-7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Carl R. Reng Student Union, third floor, on the Arkansas State University campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The panelists include Dr. Brenda Randle, moderator and entrepreneur; Dr. Kathy Loyd, interim dean of the A-State College of Business; Shalon Tate, assistant principal of the Math and Science Magnet School; Dr. Devi Nair, director of cardiac electrophysiology at St. Bernards Medical Center; Christy Case, senior loan officer, Farm Credit Midsouth; and Parisa Brown, warehouse business unit leader, Frito-Lay/PepsiCo.

Each panelist will have up to three minutes to tell her story into the professional world before providing answers to several topics, including:

• What would be pertinent for women to know going into the workforce?
• What are some of the largest challenges for women in the workplace?
• What were some unwritten rules one has to figure out while navigating the workplace?
• How does one navigate stereotypes, written rules, identity, remaining professional and motherhood?
• Leadership and networking: What are tips for advancing in the workplace?
• What steps does one take to develop a network and how does it help one become a leader?

The panelists will then open a question and answer session with the audience.
