JONESBORO -- U.S. Senator John Boozman (center) visited with a group of veterans Friday at the Beck PRIDE Center in the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Arkansas State University.

Boozman, who was on a listening tour, heard several of the veterans talk about the highly positive impact the center has had on their personal lives, especially with opening educational opportunities, and how it has given "a hand up instead of a handout.."

Director Lynda Nash also briefed Sen. Boozman on the center's progress and its work with wounded veterans since the center's inception in 2007.  PRIDE stands for Personal Rehabilitation, Individual Development and Education.

Chancellor Kelly Damphousse, Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin, Craighead County Judge Ed Hill and other university and local officials also met with Sen. Boozman.
