Sympathy to the family and colleagues of Dr. Ralph Ruby

The university community extends sympathy to the family and colleagues of Dr. Ralph Ruby Jr., emeritus professor of computer and information technology, and especially his wife, Dr. Paula Ruby, professor of computer and information technology.  They taught together in the Neil Griffin College of Business at Arkansas State University.

Ruby died Monday at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Ruby, who enjoyed a 41-year career at A-State, introduced microcomputers to business education majors in the mid-1980s. A mentor to many, he often shared career advice with this students, especially those in the methods and materials classes. Ruby also authored more than 50 textbooks for microcomputer applications and related topics, and more recently developed iOS apps.

He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Tennessee and his doctoral degree from the University of Missouri.  He began his A-State career in 1979.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29.  That evening, the clock tower of the Dean B. Ellis Library will be lighted red as a memorial tribute.
