JONESBORO, AR – Local businessman Ted Herget has endowed a business scholarship for Arkansas State University. The scholarship, started with the first gift of $25,000, is named the Gearhead Outfitters Business Scholarship Endowment.

“I feel a great sense of pride about Arkansas State and want to give back to my school,” said Herget, who received his bachelor of science degree in accounting from ASU in 1997. “It is time for alums to step up and give back.”

To be eligible for the scholarship, the recipient must be a full-time junior or senior student in good academic standing. Criteria also includes submission of a full resume by the applicant, must be a College of Business major and must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average. The award is good for one year.

The recipient is selected by the College of Business Scholarship Committee in consultation with Herget.

Herget has three Gearhead business locations including the Cycle House on Main Street, which includes bicycle sales, care and safety products and clothing. The other is located in Turtle Creek Mall and the third is located in Little Rock.

Gearhead Outfitters is locally owned and run by ASU alumni and students.
