Theatre Announces Cast and Crew for 'Vintage Hitchcock' Production

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University Theatre will present "Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play," a triple feature suspense by Joe Landry, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, and Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3-4.

The production, under the direction of Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre, will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the Black Box Theatre at Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr.  A “meet the company” dessert reception will follow the opening night performance on Sept. 30.

In collaboration with A-State Theatre, KASU radio plans to broadcast the Saturday, Oct. 1, production live.  Although KASU has on occasion broadcast campus music concerts, this is the first time the station has aired a live theatrical production.  The nature of the play, a radio thriller, made it a natural choice for live radio, and a recording will be broadcast in mid-October on KASU, 91.9 FM.

The cast includes Tyler Gillespie, a senior theatre major from Dumas, as Hitchcock; Hayden Boles, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, as Verloc; Zac Passmore, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, as Ted;  Davis Polston, a junior theatre major from Searcy, as Hannay; Davis Campbell, a sophomore theatre major from Batesville, as Sleuth; Emma Watkins, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, as Pamela; Hannah Cummins, a senior theatre major from Batesville, as Winnie; Samantha Dunavion, a sophomore theatre major from Tuckerman, as Ellen; Hayley Scott, a freshman theatre major from North Little Rock, Beth Harvey, a junior theatre major from Imboden and Jaelyn Epps, a senior theatre major from North Little Rock, as Jingle Singers.

Eli Webb, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, will be sound designer.  Scenic designer will be Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre.  Claire Abernathy, assistant professor of theatre will serve as lighting designer and costume designer.  Light board operator will be Logan Powell, a sophomore theatre major from Highland.  Sound board operator will be Jacob George, a senior theatre major from El Dorado.

Laura Martin, a senior theatre major from Blytheville, will serve as properties master.  Justin Almager, a senior theatre major from El Dorado, will serve as hair and makeup designer.  Matthew Stewart, a senior theatre major from White Hall, will serve as wardrobe head.

Katey Little, a junior theatre major from Paragould, Kimberly Deck, a senior strategic communications major from Jonesboro, and Luis Chavez, a senior theatre major from Jonesboro will serve as wardrobe and makeup crew.   Irene Taylor, a senior theatre major from Springfield, will serve as assistant stage manager.  Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Alyssa Burleson, a junior theatre major from North Little Rock.

Tickets may be purchased for reserved seating in advance at the Central Box Office in the Convocation Center or by calling 972-ASU1.  Tickets are also available online at tickets.astate.edu.  Reserved seating tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance.  Ticket prices are $10 ($8 in advance).

Advanced reservations are highly recommended.  Parents are cautioned, the performance includes adult subject matter.
