Wind Ensemble to Premiere New Works March 14

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University's Wind Ensemble will perform in concert Tuesday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Fowler Center’s Riceland Hall, 201 Olympic Dr.

Conducted by Dr. Tim Oliver, director of bands at A-State, the Wind Ensemble's program will include “Psalm for Band, Op. 53” by Vincent Persichetti and “Four Scottish Dances” by Malcolm Arnold. 

The musicians also will be premiering two new pieces.  The Wind Ensemble will perform the Mid-South premiere of James Stephenson’s “Concerto for Piccolo Trumpet and Wind Ensemble,” which was commissioned in part by Dr. Chris Wilson, associate professor of music.  He also will be the featured trumpet soloist.  

In addition, the ensemble will premiere of “Tides and Tracings,” composed by music faculty member Dr. Carrie Page.

Tickets are $5 for the general public, and students are admitted free with their ID.
