This unit hosts a BD FACSAria™ II Special Order flow cytometer/cell sorter that has three major components: a fluidics cart, a benchtop flow cytometer, and a workstation. The cytometer can be operated at varied pressures and can acquire up to 70,000 events per second. With its fixed-optics design and digital electronics, the BD FACSAria™ II flow cytometer enables multicolor analysis of multiple fluorescent markers and two scatter parameters at a time. It is equipped with three lasers: a 405 nm, 100 mW violet laser (BD product 647316), a Sapphire 488 nm, 50 mW blue laser (BD product 646989), and a cube 640 nm, 40 MW red laser (Coherent [COHR], BD product 647310). The most frequently used nozzles include 70-micron, 85-micron, and 100-micron sizes. Cytometer functions are operated from within BD FACSDiva™ software (BD) and data analyses are backed by FCS Express™ 7 Professional (De Novo Software).
