SUPERB Scholarship Program
About the program:
The Students United in Preserving, Exploring, and Researching Biodiversity (SUPERB) Scholarship Program is a multi-year program at Arkansas State University (A-State), Murray State University (MSU), and Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC). The program is currently accepting students for its Fall 2021 cohort. The program provides support to students studying organismal biology with an interest in biodiversity, conservation, and natural history collections. This program aims to ensure that its students excel academically, graduate on time, gain research experience, and are prepared for the next step in their professional lives, setting them up for success in graduate school or the professional career of their choosing.
Benefits:
This scholarship program provides financial assistance as well as predetermined coursework, professional development seminars, and mentorship to provide a well-rounded support system to ensure each student’s academic success.
Students in the program will receive the following benefits:
Graduate students:
- Up to $5000 scholarship per Fall and Spring semester
- Opportunities for undergraduate mentoring
Undergraduate students:
- Up to $3200 scholarship per Fall and Spring semester
- Opportunities for summer research experiences
- Research mentorship from graduate students
All students:
- Professional development seminar series
- Travel support to scientific conferences
- Financial support for research projects
- Faculty and life coach mentorship
- Peer mentoring
- Support to participate in 4-day summer institute
- Cohort curriculum on natural history collections and developing biodiversity research
