Students will work towards gaining or improving the skills needed to safely and functionally participate in the instrumental activities of daily living. Transitional support will focus on the following:
- Transportation resources and safety
- Outline goals for independent living or increased independence within the current living situation
- Educating students on home establishment
- Household management
- State and government requirements and responsibilities (taxes, driver’s license, etc.)
- Developing routines that promote health and wellness
- Home management
- Independent shopping skills
Program administrators and mentors will address transitional support through online meetings, seminars, and scenario-based assessments between the student and their mentor. Goals will be set for the student and family/caregiver unit to practice within their own home, social networks and community.
