The College of Agriculture has a number of privately funded scholarships available to students enrolled in a degree plan within our college.  All scholarships are for full-time students with a declared major in Agriculture and attending the ASU-Jonesboro campus of A-State. Criteria for each scholarship are listed below the title.

Available Scholarships

COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE SCHOLARSHIPS

The College of Agriculture (CoA) has a number of privately funded scholarships available for students enrolled in a degree plan within our college.  All scholarships are for full-time students with a declared major in Agriculture and attending the A-State Jonesboro campus.  Most scholarship awards are split between the fall and spring semesters.

Academic Performance Scholarship

  1. Incoming freshmen only
  2. Must be a declared Agriculture major in the College of Agriculture.
  3. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA at the end of the first semester to receive the balance of the scholarship.

 

Arkansas Crop Protection Association Scholarship

  1. Plant Science major
  2. Minimum 2.5 GPA
  3. Must be able to attend the Arkansas Crop Management Conference in N. Little Rock (usually in Jan.)

 

Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation Scholarship

  1. Agricultural Business major
  2. Minimum 3.0 GPA

 

Arkansas Plant Food Association Scholarship

  1.  Plant and Soil Science majors only
  2.  Any classification (Fr, Soph, Jr., or Sr.) 
  3. 2.5 GPA or higher

 

Arkansas Seed Dealer Association

  1. Junior or Senior AgriBusiness or Plant & Soil Science major 
  2. Minimum 2.5 GPA 
  3. Preference given to Arkansas resident 
  4. Recipient must attend the AR Seed Dealers Association Winter meeting held in little Rock in January

 

Arkansas State Federation of Farm Credit Stockholders Scholarship

  1.  Sophomore through Senior Agriculture majors
  2.  Minimum 2.75 GPA 
  3.  Must be a resident of Arkansas

 

Arkansas State Plant Board Scholarship

  1.  Plant and Soil Science major
  2.  Minimum 2.5 GPA
  3. Sophomore or higher classification

 

ASU Horticulture Club Scholarship

  1. Jr. or Sr. Plant Science major with emphasis in Environmental Horticulture
  2. Minimum 3.0 GPA
  3. Must be a resident of Northeast Arkansas or Southeast Missouri

 

John Andrew Baltz Memorial Scholarship

  1. Full-time Agriculture student
  2. Student may be any major with the College of Agriculture

  

Beck Foundation Scholarship

  1. Full-time student in College of Agriculture or College of Business (alternates each year - Ag one year; Business the next year)
  2. Scholarship provides incentives for student entrepreneurialism

 

George A. Berger Memorial Scholarship

  1. Plant Science or Plant Genetics major preferred
  2. Minimum 2.5 GPA
  3. Student may be any classification

 

Robert Blanchard Agricultural Scholarship

  1.  Full-time Sophomore or Junior majoring in Agriculture
  2.  Minimum 2.75 overall GPA 
  3.  Must exhibit academic promise in agriculture and demonstrate potential to complete a degree
  4.  Campus leadership and activities considered as significant criteria

 

Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce

  1. Jr., Sr., or Graduate majoring in Agriculture
  2. Renewable for up to two years
  3. Minimum 3.0 GPA

 

Virginia Doris Craig Scholarship

  1. Master’s student in Agriculture
  2. Field must be Vocational Technical Administration.
  3. Must be admitted to program and have completed 18 hours of coursework
  4. Priority to female students.

 

Craighead County Conservation District Scholarship

  1. Must be Jr. or Sr. Agriculture major
  2. Minimum 2.75 GPA

 

Craighead County Master Gardeners Horticulture Scholarship

  1. Must be a Plant Science major with a declared emphasis in Environmental Horticulture
  2. Min. GPA 2.5

 

Michael James Crittenden Memorial Scholarship

  1. Plant & Soil Science major
  2. Minimum 3.0 GPA
  3. Jr or Sr level

     

    Joseph H. Daniel Memorial Scholarship

    1. Agricultural Business major
    2. Jr. or Sr.
    3. Minimum 3.25 GPA.

     

    Earl and Bruce Devore Endowed Scholarship

    1. Priority given to a student from Prairie County.
    2. Second preference given to a student from the First Congressional District of Arkansas.
    3. Any classification Agriculture major OR transfer student from ASU Beebe majoring in Agriculture.
    4. Minimum 3.0 GPA

     

    Bill Edmondson Memorial Scholarship

    1. Must be a resident of Lawrence County, Arkansas
    2. Preference given to Agriculture majors
    3. Minimum 2.5 GPA

     

    Collegiate FFA Scholarship

    1. Junior or Senior Agricultural Studies major with an emphasis in Agricultural Education
    2. Must be an active member of the Collegiate FFA for two consecutive semesters
    3. Minimum 2.5 GPA
    4. Preference given to applicants who demonstrate financial need, leadership, and participation in extra-curricular activities
    5. Recipient must be “officially” accepted into the A-State teacher education program
    6. Scholarship to be awarded during recipient’s teaching internship semester

     

    FFA State Officer Leadership Scholarship

    1. Must be a state FFA officer
    2. Incoming freshmen only
    3. Must be declared major in Agriculture with 2.75 minimum GPA

     

    Lori Fenner Agriculture Alumni Scholarship

    1. One of the student’s parents must be an A-State alumni with an undergraduate AG degree from the College of Agriculture
    2. Must not be a recipient of A-State Scholar or A-State Excellence scholarship
    3. Must have completed 30 hours at the A-State Jonesboro (cannot be transferred or concurrent hours)
    4. Minimum 3.0 GPA

     

    Foust Family Scholarship

    1. Must be a graduate of one of the following school districts: Harrisburg, Cross County, Wynne or Forrest City.
    2. Jr. or Sr. with minimum 3.0 GPA
    3. Must be a declared major in Agriculture, Business, or either vocal performance or vocal music
    4. Vocal Music recipient must be enrolled in one of the available choirs
    5. Scholarship rotates annually between Agriculture (2020/2021), Business (2021/2022), and Vocal Music (2022/2023).

     

    Katherine E. Franzen Scholarship

    1. Must be full-time student from Arkansas County
    2. Any classification.
    3. Minimum 2.5 GPA

     

    James E. Gambill Memorial Scholarship

    1. Preference given to Brookland High School graduate majoring in Agriculture
    2. Financial need is a consideration in the selection
    3. Second preference given to residents of Craighead County
    4. Minimum 3.0 GPA.

     

    College of Agriculture General Freshman Scholarship

    1. Must be a new, first time, incoming freshman
    2.  First place FFA CDE winner in Jr. or Sr. year of high school* OR
    3. Crowley’s Ridge Classic Livestock Show first place winner* OR
    4. CoA Student Leadership Conference drawing winner 
    5. Other awards as designated by CoA Dean
    6. Students who receive the Golightly Incoming Freshman Scholarship are NOT eligible
    7. Students who receive the Chancellor’s Scholarship are NOT eligible

      *FFA CDE and Crowley’s Ridge Classic Livestock Show winners must enroll at ASU-Jonesboro the semester following high school graduation and be a declared major in the College of Agriculture.

    Golightly Foundation Agriculture Scholarship

    1.  Full-time incoming freshman
    2.  ACT 23 or above OR upper 12% of high school class with minimum ACT of 19

     

    Golightly Upper Level Agricultural Scholarship

    1.  Sophomore or Junior majoring in Agriculture
    2.  Minimum 3.0 overall GPA 
    3.  Financial need is a major consideration along with a commitment to a career in Agriculture

     

    Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) Scholarship

    1. Jr. or Sr. standing (ANSC majors are not eligible)
    2. 2.5 GPA or above
    3. Recipient must attend trade show in Brinkley (1st Thursday in February)

     

    Greenway Agricultural Systems Technology Scholarship

    1. Full-time Incoming Freshman or Sophomore in the College of Agriculture at ASU-Jonesboro.
    2. Must be a declared Agricultural Studies major with an emphasis in Agriculture Systems Technology
    3. $10,000 scholarship awarded over a four year period ($1,000 FR year; $1,000 SOPH year; $4,000 JR year; and $4,000 senior year) provided student maintains a 2.75 GPA

     

    Greenway Crop Consulting and Agronomic Services Minor Scholarship

    1. Full-time student at ASU-Jonesboro
    2. Must be a declared Agricultural Business major in the College of Agriculture
    3. Must complete the Crop Consulting and Agronomic Services minor
    4. Recipient will receive $1,500 upon completing of first 9 hours of minor course work; $500 for completion of 4th; $500 for completion of 5th course; and $1,000 for completion of final course

     

    Kelsey Hall/Brown Lacy Excellence in Agriculture Memorial Scholarship

    1. Junior or Senior Agricultural Business major
    2. Minimum 2.5 GPA
    3. Must be a resident of the state of Arkansas
    4. Consideration shall be given on the basis of leadership capabilities, campus and community involvement, and financial need.

     

    Dr. L. N. Hochstetler Memorial Scholarship

    1. Jr. or Sr. Animal Science majors only
    2. Minimum 2.75 GPA
    3. Must be active in a least one Ag-related student organization
    4. Financial need shall be a consideration in the selection

     

    The Horticulture Garden Club Scholarship

    1. Plant & Soil Science major with emphasis in Horticulture
    2. Minimum 2.5 GPA
    3. Financial need is considered

     

    Brigadier General Keith A. Klemmer Scholarship

    1. Jr or Sr Agriculture major
    2. Minimum 3.0 GPA
    3. Must be a High School graduate from one of the following counties: Craighead, Greene, Clay, Poinsett, Mississippi, Cross, Crittenden, St. Francis, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Woodruff, or Jackson.

     

    Dr. Al Langlois Scholarship

    1. Plant Science major with emphasis in Horticulture
    2. Any classification
    3. Minimum 2.5 GPA
    4. Financial need, leadership, and participation in extra-curricular activities considered

     

    Samuel S. Lipscomb Memorial Scholarship

    1. Incoming freshman Agriculture major or student from farm background majoring in any field
    2. ACT 27 or top 5% of high school class, or National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist
    3. Preference given to students from Paragould and Marmaduke trade areas
    4. Financial need considered
    5. Cumulative GPA of 3.25 must be maintained

     

    Little Rock Grain Exchange Scholarship

    1. Freshman or Sophomore majoring in Agricultural Business
    2. ACT 21 or higher, or rank in upper half of an Arkansas high school graduating class

     

    Taylor Martin Memorial Scholarship in Agriculture

    1. Priority given to Animal Science major
    2. Must have complete min. 30 hours at A-State Jonesboro (cannot be transferred or concurrent hours)
    3. Minimum 2.75 GPA
    4. Priority based on financial need

     

    Joe McAlister Cache River Valley Seed Scholarship

    1. Two awards given to Plant Science majors
    2. Minimum 3.0 GPA

     

    Dr. Olen P. Nail Scholarship (Sophomore)

    1. Agriculture major
    2. Minimum sophomore status with at least 30 credit hours and a 3.0 GPA
    3. Preference given to student who demonstrates financial need

     

    Dr. Olen P. Nail Outstanding Jr. Scholarship

    1. Selection made by Agriculture faculty
    2. Award presented each year at the College of Agriculture  Honor’s Banquet
    3. Minimum 3.0 GPA

     

    John H. Neely & Irene N. Neely General Agriculture Scholarship

    1.  Incoming freshman majoring in Agriculture 
    2.  Preference given to Jonesboro and Western Poinsett county area
    3.  Minimum 3.0 overall GPA
    4. Consideration of scholastic achievement, citizenship, and financial need
    5. Recipient may NOT also be awarded the Neeley Plant Science Scholarship

    John H. Neely & Irene N. Neely Plant Science Scholarship

    1.  Incoming freshman majoring in Plant Science. 
    2.  Preference given to Jonesboro and West Poinsett county area
    3.  Minimum 3.0 overall GPA
    4. Consideration of scholastic achievement, interest in the study of plant science (particularly soybean and rice production) and financial need.
    5. Recipient may NOT also be awarded the Neeley General Agriculture Scholarship

    Ruel Nester Scholarship

           1.  Preference given to a resident of the state of Arkansas
           2.  Jr. or Sr. Majoring in agronomy, horticulture, entomology, or plant pathology and planning to pursue a career in pest management.
           3.  GPA, leadership, financial need, and extracurricular activities considered

     

    Bill & Alice Nix Petting Zoo Volunteer Scholarship 

           1.  Recipient selected from student volunteers from the fall Petting Zoo by faculty

     

    Pope Family Scholarship for Agricultural Business

    1.  Full-time student majoring in Agricultural Business on ASU-J campus
    2.  Must be an Arkansas resident
    3.  3.25 GPA or higher
    4.  Recipient must submit end-of semester report to donor reflecting academic progress

     

    H. Dude and Peggy Provost Memorial Scholarship

    1.  Jr or Sr full-time Ag student
    2.  Minimum 3.0 GPA
    3.  Must have 60+ hours to apply
    4.  Student must not be the recipient of the A-State Scholar, A-State Excellence, or A-State Leadership institutional scholarship

     

    Amos B. Rougeau Agricultural Scholarship

    1.  Preference given to a Vocational Education graduate student
    2.  If no eligible graduate student available, scholarship may be awarded to an Agricultural Studies Jr. or Sr. level student
    3.  Must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program

     

    Jim Sloan Memorial Scholarship

    1.  Must be a Sophomore who will be a Junior in the fall
    2.  Preference given to students from Northeast Arkansas
    3.  GPA 3.25 or higher
    4.  Recipient may receive award for maximum two years

     

    Staplcotn Congressional Internship

    1.  Student must have earned minimum of 45 credit hours prior to beginning the internship and must be a full-time student at ASU-Jonesboro
    2.  Student must have a 3.0 GPA
    3.  Student must have a background and interest in agricultural and natural resources policy
    4.  Student must have a record of community and/or campus involvement and exemplary communication/public relations skills
    5.  Student will be required to enroll in AGRI 420V (Internships in Agriculture). They may earn three to four hours credit for their internship depending on how many hours they work
