UpSkill Program Student Information

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Arkansas State University (A-State) UpSkill Program is an initiative of the Arkansas Governor’s Office to assist high school students in developing 21st century skills in computer coding. This initiative provides college-level coding courses to high school students throughout Arkansas via the A-State Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP). These concurrent courses allow students to accumulate both high school and college credit for the completion three concurrent coding courses.

The A-State CEP is accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP), an international symbol of quality, excellence, and rigor. As the sole national accrediting agency for concurrent enrollment programs, NACEP ensures accredited programs adhere to the highest standards in building a seamless transition of high school students to the college environment (www.nacep.org).

UpSkill concurrent courses consist of three paths: Swift Coding, Android Development and Game Production and Development. These courses are taught by A-State faculty through A-State Online. Each path consists of three asynchronous online courses taught in a seven-week format. Students will take two courses in the fall semester and one course in the spring. Each week students will have modules to work through. At the conclusion of the final course in each path, students will have created a final project in the respective area.
