The African American Studies minor focuses on Black experiences in the United States, but also provides contextualization in African history and African diaspora studies. African American Studies can benefit graduates planning careers in professions where multicultural public contact is extensive, such as in education, counseling, social services, medicine, government, and many other fields that require an understanding of diverse cultures. Students considering this minor should contact the director of African American Studies.
