Medina-Bolivar is Chair for Conference in Peru
Dr. Fabricio Medina-Bolivar, associate professor of plant metabolic engineering, is program chair for the 2016 conference of the American Council for Medicinally Active Plants (ACMAP), which will be in Lima, Peru. Previously he served two terms as president of the organization, which met at A-State in 2012. ACMAP promotes research, production and conservation of medicinal and other bioactive plants useful to human health.

Lorence Discusses Impact of NSF-funded Project
Dr. Argelia Lorence, professor of metabolic engineering, presented a poster at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, illustrating the progress with her National Science Foundation-funded plant genome project. She emphasized her team's success with involving a diverse group of students at A-State, showing they have trained 18 undergraduates and involved 21 more in summer workshops, most of whom are from under-represented groups.

Professionals Award Scholarship to Manning
Veronica C. Manning, clinical coordinator and assistant professor of medical imaging and radiation sciences, has received the Elsevier Faculty Development Scholarship from the Association of Collegiate Educators in Radiologic Technologist (ACERT). ACERT presents the scholarship to an outstanding faculty member who is pursuing an advanced degree. She will finish an Ed.S. in May and begin the Ed.D. program in educational leadership in July.

Journal Publishes Rawlins' Transparency Study
An article by Dr. Brad Rawlins, dean, media and communication, was published in the latest issue of Public Relations Journal. Titled "Transparency and City Government Communications," the article co-authors are his former graduate student and a faculty colleague at Brigham Young University. Their study, which advances Rawlins' transparency model for government communicators, analyzes practices that affect perceived transparency in city communications.
