Dr. Zahid Hossain, associate professor of civil engineering, is lead editor of the proceedings of the GeoChina International Conference on civil infrastructures and the impact of severe weather and climate change. The book, "Solving Pavement and Construction Material Problems with Innovative and Cutting-edge Technologies," covers challenges in transportation engineering, with emphasis on technology advancements and use of sustainable construction materials. Hansen Presents Paper in Scotland
Dr. Gregory Hansen, professor of folklore and English, presented a paper, "Representing Fiddling as Intangible Cultural Heritage: Heritagization in the Sunshine State," at the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention (NAFCo) in Scotland. He drew from his work in the heritage studies doctoral program. The conference is supported by the University of Aberdeen's Elphinstone Institute, which is publishing an article Hansen developed from his 2015 NAFCo presentation.

Bhandari Co-Authors Advertising Analysis
Dr. Manu Bhandari, assistant professor of strategic communication, is co-author of an article published in Health Communication. The article, led by Dr. Glenn Leshner of the University of Oklahoma, investigates motivated processing of anti-smoking advertising messages, focusing on the role of content elements that portray tobacco companies as dishonest and those that show negative graphic images. Rubys' Notes App for Students is Published
Apple has published the note-taking application, "Class Notes," developed by Dr. Ralph Ruby Jr. and Dr. Paula Ruby, professors of computer information technology. Class Notes is an educational app designed to help beginning note takers learn proper note-taking techniques, using internationally recognized format organizers and templates. Their patented process allows students to use their texting skills to record notes as a complete note-taking shorthand.

Devereux and Blackburn Add to Research Guide
Emily Devereux (right), executive director of research development, and Jessica Blackburn, director of foundation relations and corporate engagement, are co-authors of a chapter contribution to "Special Issues for Predominately Undergraduate Institutions" in Sponsored Research Administration: A Guide to Effective Strategies & Recommended Practices. Their contribution, "Building Bridges with Development," was an expansion and follow-up to their article in NCURA Magazine.
