Gilmer Receives 2019 Team Player Award

Vickie Gilmer, administrative assistant in the Department of Political Science, was recognized during A-State’s Distinguished Performance Awards ceremony last week as recipient of the 2019 Team Player award. Her nominator said Gilmer is a visionary when it comes to the team concept, a tireless worker, and one who goes above and beyond her job description to be of service to others.

Jones Noted for Outstanding Work as Part-Timer Jones Noted for Outstanding Work as Part-Timer

Randall Parker Jones, Information Technology Services, received the "Outstanding Part-Time" award during the Distinguished Performance Awards ceremony. He started in the IT Store while finishing his degree, and quickly learned tasks and made recommendations that improved processes. He supervised a student help desk that he developed, and worked on projects with  progressively increased responsibilities. His performance netted him a full-time position with ITS.

 
Klerk Recognized with Team Player Award for 2019

Robyn Klerk, administrative assistant in the Department of Psychology and Counseling, is the 2019 Rookie of the Year. Her nominators said she excels in all aspects of her professional responsibilities and constantly seeks opportunities to do more. Within a short time, she has mastered the idiosyncrasies of Banner, the student needs, and the variability of faculty needs, while organizing materials and making procedures more efficient.

Patchell Named Sun Belt Coach of the Year
Congratulations to Jim Patchell, track and field head coach, who was named Sun Belt Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Head Coach of the Year. Patchell guided the women’s squad to the outdoor championship earlier this month, becoming the first outdoor title for the women’s program since the 2015 season and second dating back to 2001. This marks the seventh SBC Coach of the Year honor for Patchell.

Jennings Co-Authors Chapter in Nursing Text Jennings Co-Authors Chapter in Nursing Text

Joy Jennings, assistant professor of nursing, Beebe campus, co-authored a chapter in Disaster Nursing and Emergency Preparedness, fourth edition, which earned second place in the 2018 American Journal of Nursing book of the year award in critical care-emergency nursing. The text is consistent with The Federal Disaster Response Framework, and aligns the U.S. National Health Security Strategy and the National Planning Frameworks.
