Wilkinson has Exhibit at Historic Arkansas Museum
Congratulations to Melissa Wilkinson, associate professor of art, whose recent work is featured in a new exhibit at the Historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock. The exhibit, "Vice and Virtue," features Wilkinson's personal reflections and influences through her watercolor and ink wash paintings. An MFA graduate of Southern Illinois, she was honored at an opening reception at the museum. The exhibit continues through April 5.

Scarbrough Selected for State Folklife Award
The Arkansas Arts Council has announced selections for the Governor's Arts Awards, including Marty Scarbrough, program director, KASU-FM. Winner of the Folklife Award, the veteran A-State employee was recognized for his programming work and organization of live bluegrass music concerts in Northeast Arkansas. Nominated by the public, recipients are selected by a panel of arts professionals. He will receive the award in a March ceremony.

Leitterman and Jenkins Perform in Recital Series
Dr. Kristin Leitterman (left) instructor in oboe, and Emily Trapp Jenkins, collaborative pianist, will jointly present a concert in the faculty recital series Monday, Jan. 27, in Fowler Center's Riceland Hall. Their concert program, themed "American Voyages," will feature three compositions that depict places around the country, including colonial Boston, Joshua Tree National Park and 1940s New York City. Representatives of the heritage studies Ph.D. program and media studies are collaborating.

Bowen's Poetry Accepted by Two Publications
Three poems by Dr. Ash Bowen, assistant professor of English at A-State Campus Queretaro, have been published in the current issue of Blackbird. He also has been notified three additional poems he wrote have been accepted by UCity Review for publication in a future edition. Bowen, whose first book of poems won the 2012 Orphic Prize, teaches contemporary U.S. literature, composition and creative writing at A-State CQ.

FCA Selects Anderson for Coach of the Year Honor
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) recognized Blake Anderson, head football coach, as the 2019 Grant Teaff Coach of the Year during the recent American Football Coaches Association FCA coaches breakfast in Nashville. The award is named after Grant Teaff, former Baylor University coach and leader in FCA. Anderson's acceptance address to the gathering of football coaches was widely praised by participants.
