Sikkel's Research Featured in Scientific American
Research by Dr. Paul Sikkel, associate professor of aquatic biology, and associates has been featured in the latest edition of Scientific American. The magazine reported on their work referencing "storm-surfing parasites" documented during the 2017 hurricane season. Sikkel and his team have had their work published in several top publications in recent weeks, including Oceans, Marine Biology, Ecosphere and Scientific Reports. Details are online.

Evans Makes a Difference in Students' Lives
Congratulations to Candace Evans, adviser in Media and Communication, on her selection as recipient of the 2020 Making a Difference Award, which is presented annually by the Wilson Advising Center. Student-nominated and selected, the award recognizes an outstanding adviser for exemplary service. The center recognized all nominees during a virtual awards ceremony Wednesday. Evans is an A-State alumna, with bachelor's and master's degrees.

Folsom Has Presentation and Publication
Dr. Audrey Folsom moved into a position as assistant professor of clinical laboratory sciences this year, after completing a Doctor of Health Sciences degree at the University of Bridgeport last May. She has taught in a full-time temporary position for several years. Her recent work includes a virtual poster presentation at her professional group's annual meeting, based on her dissertation research, and an article in ASCLS Today.

Carmack Featured for Personal Achievement
Dr. Rodney Carmack, assistant professor of accounting, has not had the Dr. in front of his name for a long time. Carmack successfully defended his dissertation for a Doctor of Business Administration degree, with an emphasis in accounting, at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in August. He was featured by UMSL in its daily report because of his achievement and its significance to his family.

Allen Working on EDA's Pandemic Recovery
The Delta Center for Economic Development and Andrea Allen, executive director, worked with the Arkansas Economic Development Institute (AEDI) to develop a website and interactive COVID-19 data dashboard. The project is part of a Recovery and Resilience Initiative funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The website consolidates the work to date on the project. The dashboard tracks the pandemic's social and economic impact in Arkansas.
