McKay is Featured in Professional Journal
Congratulations to Dr. Tanja McKay, professor of entomology, who is the a featured researcher in the professional journal American Entomologist. McKay recalls how as a child growing up in Nova Scotia she started developing an interest in animals, especially insects. After completing her Ph.D. at Kansas State and a post-doc appointment at Arkansas, McKay joined A-State’s faculty in 2004. The full article is available online.

Chang and Zare Publish Family Business Research
Dr. Erick P.C. Chang, associate professor of management, and Dr. Sina Zare, assistant professor of supply chain and operations management, authored an article analyzing the differences between businesses run by large families and non-family operations. The article, available online, was published in the Journal of Business Research. Also, Chang is co-editor of a book series, Palgrave Studies in Family Business Heterogeneity, of which the first volume has been published. Details are online.

Mello Co-Authors Study of Grounded Theory
An article co-authored by Dr. John Mello, professor of supply chain management, was published in The International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management. The authors explain most frequently misunderstood steps in the use of grounded theory as a methodology, and offer guidance on proper execution of these elements. The research provides assistance to reviewers and authors interested in applying grounded theory to supply chain management phenomena.

Armstard Selected for National Leaders Academy
Congratulations to Terrance Armstard, instructor in multimedia journalism and adviser, Delta Digital News Service, upon his selection by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) to participate in its Leadership Academy. He will join professionals from the Chicago Tribune, St. Paul Pioneer Press, and Yahoo News/Verizon Media as well as educators from Temple, Arizona, and Utah State among the 13 participants selected. Cameron to Perform in Bach Festival Concert
Dr. Erin Cameron, assistant professor of music, will perform Sunday at the Victoria (Texas) Bach Festival. The wide-ranging program by Cameron, a clarinetist, includes music by Bach, Clara Schumann, jazz-influenced rhythms from American composer Robert Muczynski, and two contemporary works inspired by music of Billie Holiday and the Grand Canyon. Cameron is working with pianist Faith DeBow for the Bach Festival presentation. Details are online.
