McGregor is President-Elect of Psychology Group
Dr. Loretta Neal McGregor, professor of psychology, was selected to become president-elect of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP) in 2023. STP, a division of the American Psychological Association, promotes excellence in teaching and learning of psychology by providing resources and services, access to a global community, and professional development. McGregor, the first Black person to hold this position in the society’s 75-year history, will serve as president in 2024.

Hossain Co-Authors Two Journal Articles
Two articles co-authored by Dr. Niamat Hossain, assistant professor of engineering management, have been published in professional publications. One article, in the Journal of Industrial Information Integration, concerns assessing blockchain technology adoption in the Norwegian oil and gas industry using Bayesian Best Worth Method. The second article, on assessing the social impacts of additive manufacturing using hierarchical evidential reasoning approach, was in Global Journal of Flexible Systems Management.

Reba Presents Water Usage Research
Dr. Michele Reba, research hydrologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Delta Water Management Research Unit based at Arkansas Biosciences Institute, made a presentation for the Mississippi Water Resources Conference, held recently at Mississippi State. Her topic was surface and alternative water use and reuse. The research unit’s mission is the preservation of water, both in quantity and quality, for agriculture.

Carothers Named July PROPS Honoree
Congratulations to the July PROPS honoree, Justine Carothers, who works with A-State Online faculty support. Nominators said Carothers “goes above and beyond to make sure students get the absolute best chance of getting into and starting their college career.” The PROPS (Proudly Recognizing Our Pack Staff) program was initiated by Staff Senate. Senate representatives interviewed Carothers, and her responses are online.

Provence Serves on Mobile Technology Panel
Katey Provence, director of student engagement, was one of the panelists for an online webinar on the use of mobile technology for improving campus communication strategies. She discussed the impact of the improvements in Ready Education’s mobile technology and how it has boosted usage of resources like tutoring and counseling, improved student engagement and retention, and promoted a better sense of belonging among students.
