Guha is Leading Business Study Tour to Japan
Dr. Gauri-Shankar Guha, professor of economics and finance, is leading a study tour in Japan for a group of students from the Griffin College of Business. He is joined on the trip by Dr. Gail Hudson, professor of marketing, and Dr. Kelly Fish, professor of computer information technology. The trip, through which participants study the international business environment, is supported by a U.S. Department of Education Business and International Education grant. Details are online.

Bowman and Jackson-Pitts are Article Co-Authors
Dr. Mary Jackson-Pitts (left), professor of media, and Dr. Michael Bowman (right), associate professor of media, are co-authors of an article, “Faculty and Student Buy-In: Selling the Value of The Assessment Process,” which was published in the Journal of Media Education. Their article describes the importance of a committed faculty in the assessment process toward building a robust curriculum and viable program.

Hu Co-Authors Article on Financing Trends
Dr. Xiankui (Bill) Hu, professor of finance, and department chair, is co-author of an article published in Managerial Finance, "Round offer prices in M&A transactions: costly negotiation and psychological preference." The researchers investigated possible explanations regarding the prevalence of price clustering in the final offer prices for mergers and acquisitions. They also examined factors associated with single acquisitions as compared to multiple occurrences.

Sweet Presents Keynote Address to Conference
Dr. Andrew Sweet, assistant professor of evolutionary biology, gave a keynote address to the International Conference of Phthiraptera, conducted virtually. The conference involves researchers and clinicians working on parasitic lice, and included attendees from every continent except Antarctica. Sweet’s presentation highlighted his research on using genetic information to untangle the co-evolutionary history between birds and their feather lice.

Brown Writes Chapters for Two New Books
Dr. Angelo Brown, assistant professor of criminology, is author of chapters in two recently published books. One is “Decolonization of Criminology and Justice,” for a book published by the University of Arizona Press. He also wrote a chapter, "The Impact of Marginalization on Relations With Law Enforcement and the Criminal Justice System" for a book on his research interests of racial justice and social equity.
