Hannah is Named CFO of Year by Business Group

Congratulations to Dr. Russ Hannah, chief financial officer, on his selection by Arkansas Business Publishing Group as Public Sector/Education CFO of the year. He was recognized during a ceremony at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. Hannah has held positions of increasing responsibility during his 32-year career, serving as associate chief financial officer before promotion to his current position in 2021. He earned his doctoral degree in educational leadership at A-State. Details are online.

Bowser and Johnson-Leslie are Book Co-Editors Bowser and Johnson-Leslie are Book Co-Editors

Dr. Audrey Bowser (left), associate professor of curriculum and instruction, and Dr. Natalie Johnson-Leslie (right), professor of teacher education, are co-editors of a newly released book. The book discusses how Black women’s pedagogies shape their navigation through formal and informal leadership roles. Former faculty member Dr. Kimberley Davis also is a co-editor. Other faculty who are contributing authors are Dr. Topeka Singleton, Dr. Evette Allen Moore, Dr. Cherisse Jones-Branch and Dr. Carlitta Moore.

 
Williams Serving as President of Educators’ Group

Dr. Rob Williams, associate professor and program director for educational leadership - principalship, is serving a one-year term as president of the Arkansas Association of Teacher Educators (ArATE). As the state unit of the national ATE organization, ArATE provides opportunities for individual professional growth for Arkansans involved in teacher education. A-State recently hosted the fall ArATE conference where educators shared research and practices related to teacher education.

Brown Makes Presentations at Two Conferences Brown Makes Presentations at Two Conferences

Dr. Angelo Brown, assistant professor of criminology, recently presented at the International Criminology Conference on law enforcement’s attempt to balance the use of artificial intelligence-based surveillance technologies with protection of individual rights. He also spoke for the Southern Criminal Justice Association’s annual meeting on conducting research in a time of ethical challenges. Details are online.

 
Stripling Serves on Enrollment Discussion Panel

Dr. Rick Stripling, associate professor of higher education and program director, served on a panel addressing “Enrollment Challenges in Higher Education” during the annual meeting of the Arkansas Dean’s Association Conference. The panel consisted of professionals from academics and enrollment management throughout the state of Arkansas. During the session they fielded questions addressing current and future enrollment challenges for higher education.
