Congratulations to Dr. Gail Hudson, professor of marketing, who is stepping into retirement following a 39-year career commited to teaching and guiding business students at A-State.  She served for eight years as department chair, from 2005-2013, and more recently has been supervising the internship program for the Griffin College of Business. She also enjoys assisting non-profits and conducting marketing research for small businesses.

Dr. Joseph Sartorelli, professor of philosophy, was one of the retirees recognized at Faculty Honors Convocation. At the time he retired in January he was among A-State’s most veteran professors, with 38 and a half years of service. He joined the faculty in 1985. In addition to serving in the Faculty Senate and advising the Philosophy Club, Sartorelli’s research interests include philosophy of language, artificial intelligence, and practical ethics.

Dr. C. William Roe, professor of management, came to A-State in 2000 following previous appointments at universities in Louisiana and Mississippi.  His 24 years of service at A-State is the final stage of his long and successful career that began with a major international accounting firm. In addition to teaching, his professional specialties include management consultative services for business, government and not-for-profit organizations.

Dr. Hai Jiang, professor of computer science, finished his A-State career at the end of December. After joining the faculty in 2004, he served for 19 and a half years. His professional contributions include serving on multiple National Science Foundation grant proposal panel reviews. Jiang won the Beck College of Sciences and Mathematics Achievement Award for Advising in 2009, and he was recognized at the Faculty Honors Convocation in April.

Kent Gibson, instructor in mathematics, has taught more A-State students than he can count during his 32-year career. Among his many achievements, he developed a quantitative reasoning course in conjunction with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education Complete College America (CCA) Grant, piloted high school concurrent credit college algebra, and co-developed the current online college algebra course in the spring of 2013.
