Crawford Concludes 58-Year Career at A-State
Best wishes to Dr. Jerry Crawford, professor of economics, A-State’s longest serving faculty member, who recently retired. Crawford joined the faculty in 1966, and became full professor in 1979. Among his career highlights, he was department chair of Business Administration and Economics for 11 years, and he directed the economic education summer workshop for 15 years. Crawford also served as president of three regional professional economic associations, and published numerous articles in refereed journals.

Alam is Co-Author of Tumor Treatment Research
Dr. Mohammad Abrar Alam, professor of chemistry and holder of the Beck Professorship in Chemistry, is co-author of an article published in RSC Medicinal Chemistry. In this article, Alam and his colleagues described the findings of new antimelanoma agents. The potential drugs are very effective in treating tumors in a mouse model. These compounds are actin inhibitors and parvin activators, which is a new mechanism for inhibiting tumor growth.

Brown Researches Changes in Federal Judiciary
Dr. Angelo Brown, assistant professor of sociology, is the lead author of an article published in the Journal of Criminal Justice and Law. Brown and his colleagues examine proposals for revisions in the federal judiciary, especially the Supreme Court, in regards to term limits, the selection process, and setting criteria for appointment. The authors look at relevant state statutes and procedures that might guide the direction such changes take.

Barnhouse Looks at Disabilities in ‘Robin Hood’
An article by Dr. Lucy Barnhouse, assistant professor of history, has recently been published in The Bulletin of the International Association for Robin Hood Studies. Her work provides an analysis of Robin Hood and popular medievalism from a disability studies perspective. The open-access article, “Disability and Medieval (In)Justice in ‘The Adventures of Robin Hood’ (1938) and ‘Robin of Sherwood’ (1984),” is available online.

Moore Presents on Work Life Integration
Dr. Carlitta M. Moore, vice chancellor for access and institutional engagement and associate professor, made a presentation last month for the Black Excellence Conference at Johns Hopkins University. In her session, “Work Life Integration: Protecting Your Boundaries and Your Peace,” Moore shared her ideas on actionable strategies for maintaining wellness and work-life boundaries in the workplace with the group of doctoral students and post-docs who attended.
