01/10/2019

JONESBORO – The 21st annual Arkansas Soil and Water Education Conference and Expo at Arkansas State University will address the latest issues and trends in soil and water conservation.

This year's event will be Wednesday, Jan. 30, at First National Bank Arena, 217 Olympic Drive, on the A‑State campus. Producers from Arkansas and surrounding states are expected to attend.

“We have a great line-up of speakers and vendors scheduled,” said Joseph Massey, steering committee chair. “The morning session will feature discussions of drainage and other issues of the Cache River followed by expert advice on how to successfully navigate state and federal conservation funding opportunities.

"Later, updates on the H2O Initiative, the economics of different soybean maturity groups, and a new cover crop demonstration opportunity for producers will be given. In the afternoon, winners of the University of Arkansas’ inaugural ‘more crop per drop’ contest will be announced followed by a one-hour discussion among producers and consultants with different experiences and perspectives on row rice production.”

More than 20 local and national vendors and agencies will have booths displaying their products and services at the Expo. Delta Plastics of the South, the Little Rock-based irrigation manufacturer, is the premier sponsor for 2019.

Up to 6.5 hours of Certified Crop Advisers soil and water continuing education units (CEUs) will be offered.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The conference begins at 8 a.m. To register online, follow the conference link, AState.edu/ASWEC.  Advanced registration for the day-long conference, including lunch, is $20 through Friday, Jan. 18. After Jan. 18, the fee is $40.
