A-State Schedule for Holiday Break, Dec. 21-Jan. 4

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University offices are closed Monday, Dec. 21, and will reopen Monday, Jan. 4 for the annual winter break. This schedule applies to A-State’s Paragould site as well.

Spring semester classes at A-State will begin Tuesday, Jan. 19. Residence Halls will reo-pen Friday, Jan. 15, at 9 a.m. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is observed Monday, Jan. 18.

Central Box Office

The Central Box Office will not observe regular business hours because the New Orleans Bowl game is before the holidays.  The ticket booths attached to the Convocation Center will be open for NEA Tournament games and A-State basketball games during the following dates: Dec. 19, Dec. 21, Dec. 22, Dec 23, Dec 26, Dec 28, Dec 29 and Dec 30.

Online Services

A-State online services office will be closed Monday, Dec. 21, and will reopen Monday, Jan. 4 for the annual winter break.  Registration deadline for the Monday, January 18 start date will be Friday, January 8. Payment deadline is Wednesday, January 13, 2016.

Red Wolves Athletics

The A-State football team will play Louisiana Tech, Saturday, Dec. 19, in the New Orleans Bowl at 8 p.m. in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La.

Arkansas State’s men’s basketball team hosts Central Arkansas, Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 7:05 p.m., Louisiana-Monroe, Thursday, Jan. 7 at 7:35 p.m. and Louisiana-Lafayette, Saturday, Jan. 9 at 7:05 p.m.

The women’s team will play Louisiana-Monroe Thursday, Jan. 7 at 5:05 p.m. and Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday, Jan. 9, at 3:05 p.m.

There is a double-header Saturday, Jan. 16 with the women’s team playing Appalachian State at 3:05 p.m. followed by the men’s teams at 7:05 p.m. The night before classes begin (Monday, Jan. 18), both teams engage in another double-header with the women playing Arkansas-Little Rock at 5:05 p.m. and the men’s teams from A-State and UALR square off at 7:35 p.m.

The bowling team will host the Mid-Winter Invitation Friday-Sunday, Jan. 15-17, at the Jonesboro Bowling Center on Shelby Drive.

NEA Tournament

One of the major events on campus during the holiday break will be the 69th annual Northeast Arkansas Invitational High School Basketball Tournament at the Convocation Center. Tournament dates are Saturday, Dec. 19; Monday, Dec. 21; Wednesday, Dec. 23; Saturday, Dec. 26; Monday, Dec. 28; Tuesday, Dec.29; and Wednesday, Dec. 30. Fans can see 53 games.

Dean B. Ellis Library

The Dean B. Ellis Library will be open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Dec. 21-23 and Dec. 28-30, for the convenience of students and faculty.  In addition, the library will provide access to all online library resources at AState.edu/Library/ throughout the break.

Johnny Cash Boyhood Home and Heritage Sites

The Historic Dyess Colony: Boyhood Home of Johnny Cash at Dyess will be open regular hours, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21, through Wednesday, Dec. 23. The home will be closed Thursday, Dec. 31 through Saturday, Jan. 2. A-State Heritage Sites at Piggott, Lakeport and Tyronza will follow the university’s closing schedule.  All sites will resume regular hours on Monday, Jan. 4.
