A-State Theatre to Present Production of ’Stuck on a Train to Nowhere’
JONESBORO — An original production will take center stage at Arkansas State University when the Department of Theatre presents “Stuck on a Train to Nowhere.”
Performances will be held at Simpson Theatre in Fowler Center at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14-15, and Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22. Matinee performances will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, and Sunday, Feb. 23.
Dallas Martinez, artistic producing director of theatre and director of Fowler Center, said this original devised theatre piece was developed through improvisation, storytelling and collaboration during the devised theatre class this past fall. Imagination Unleashed is the workshop in which "Stuck on a Train to Nowhere" was created.
"'Stuck on a Train to Nowhere' takes audiences on a surreal and thought-provoking journey through memory and self-discovery. Aboard a mysterious train that never stops, a group of passengers find themselves trapped, unable to remember how they got there or where they are going,” said DayDay Robinson, assistant professor of theatre.
"In this production, the characters are guided by an enigmatic conductor who pulls them into fragments of their pasts. Blending elements of psychological mystery, humor and drama, 'Stuck on a Train to Nowhere' challenges the characters and audience to ask questions,” Robinson continued.
