07/24/2017

JONESBORO – Dr. Anne Grippo was named interim dean of the College of Sciences and Mathematics at Arkansas State University for the upcoming academic year, Provost Lynita Cooksey announced today.

Currently the associate dean of undergraduate programs in the college, Grippo is a professor of biology at Arkansas State.  She succeeds Dr. John Pratte who is returning to the faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Physics this fall.

"I appreciate Dr. Grippo stepping in as the interim dean," Cooksey said.  "We thank John for his years of service as the dean."

One of the key members of the university’s pre-professional medical track faculty and an adviser for Honors College students, she joined A-State in 1995.  A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in chemistry, Grippo earned her Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from the University of North Carolina.

She was promoted to associate dean for the college in the spring of 2013.

Cooksey indicated that a search for a permanent dean would begin later this fall.
