Homecoming 2024

JONESBORO- Arkansas State University will host Homecoming celebrations from Sept. 30 through Oct. 4. The theme for homecoming this year is “Inter-HOWL-actic,” a Mission to Homecoming.

It’s liftoff time, as outer space, and the solar eclipse will be the theme for this year's celebrations, with events targeted towards students, alumni and the community.

On Friday, Oct. 4, the A-State Alumni Association will celebrate its 100-year anniversary. Guests will enjoy an evening featuring dinner, drinks, and a performance by the '90s party band, Dial Up. This event at the Cooper Alumni Center is ticketed.

A free Homecoming tailgate for alumni and friends will run from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Cooper Alumni Center, with food, drinks, and activities.

The student body will vote to determine members of the Homecoming Court from 9 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27. Once the five female and five male court members are selected, students will vote again from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, while candidates undergo an interview before the Homecoming King and Queen are chosen.

The Student Activities Board (SAB) will kick the events off starting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30. The SAB invites students for a cosmic night to Skate in the Stars, a roller skating event at the Red WOLF Center until 10 p.m. In addition, it will feature glow-in-the-dark volleyball, pickleball, and corn hole.

The 10 members of the 2024 A-State Homecoming Court will be introduced during Skate in the Stars.

Beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, SAB will partner with Volunteer A-State to host Galaxy Gear on the first floor of the Reng Student Union. Those who bring a nonperishable food item will receive a homecoming week t-shirt. Those who bring three or more items will receive a t-shirt and Howl space patch. Donations will benefit the A-State Food Pantry.

A Celestial Celebration will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, on the Heritage Plaza Lawn. Students can “reach for the stars” with a Velcro wall, UFO-themed laser tag, and a photo booth. Space-themed snacks will be on hand with music from DJ King Vick.

The Homecoming King and Queen will be announced during halftime of the Arkansas State Red Wolves versus South Alabama game on Oct. 5.

The SAB will sponsor one final event before the Red Wolves hit the field against the South Alabama Jaguars. “Yell Like Hell: Earth to Mars” will start at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, outside the Red WOLF Center. A concert will take place, and a photo booth and telescopes will be present, along with food trucks.

More alumni activities

The class of 1974 will host its 50-year reunion. Attendees will enjoy a tour of campus and a private tour of the Bradbury Art Museum ahead of the Friday evening celebration to mark the reunion and the Alumni Association's 100th anniversary. The deadline to register for the reunion is Sept. 25.

The College of Education and Behavioral Science will honor outstanding alumni from 4 until 6 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the Spring River Room inside the Reng Student Union.
