Art+Design Students to Take on 24-Hour Art Challenge
JONESBORO – The 24-hour Art Challenge is coming back to Arkansas State University.
On Friday at 5 p.m., Bachelor of Fine Arts students in the Department of Art+Design will find out the theme and materials they must use to create a group art project within a 24-hour time limit. The department provides their meals during the 24 hours as the students spread out through the Fine Arts Center to brainstorm and work.
The Big Reveal on Saturday at 5 p.m. will give an opportunity for the different groups to showcase the results of their collaboration. The public is invited to the reveal in the Fine Arts Center Art Gallery (GPS 2412 Quapaw Way), where light snacks will be served.
"We first did a 24-hour Art Challenge in January, and it was very successful," added Dr. Temma Balducci, Art+Design Department chair and professor of art history. "The students had so much fun that many of the same students are doing it again – in all, we have 27 signed up so far. We plan on doing it at the beginning of each fall semester as a fun way to start the semester and the year."
