Art + Design to Celebrate Da Vinci with 21st Century Technique
JONESBORO – 2019 is the 500th anniversary of the death of famed Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci.
In observance of Da Vinci's life and the significance of his artistic achievements, Arkansas State University is hosting a day of creative activities, including a closer look at his masterpiece, "Mona Lisa," through 21st century virtual reality headsets.
The Department of Art + Design will celebrate the anniversary from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Fine Arts Center (GPS: 2412 Quapaw Way).
Adults and children who attend can view a 3D print of Da Vinci’s flying machine, create their own "Vitruvian Man" drawing, make photographs at a booth with Renaissance props, and participate in other creative activities.
Admission is free, and everyone is welcome, stated Dr. Temma Balducci, professor of art history and department chair.
