JONESBORO – The Beck PRIDE Center for America’s Wounded Veterans at Arkansas State University will host the third annual Dog Fest, Saturday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., at the Pavilion, 2605 A Street, behind Centennial Bank Stadium.

The Dog Fest, a fun, family friendly event for dogs and their owners, was established to help support the Beck PRIDE Center’s service dog program. Admission is $5 per person, and veterans and children aged six and under are admitted free of charge.

Dog Fest gets underway with a fun run at 9 a.m., sponsored by Gearhead Outfitters. Owners and dogs may register at any Jonesboro Gearhead Outfitters location between 8 – 8:30 a.m. the morning of the fun run. The run starts at the Pavilion. All dogs must be on a leash and wearing proof of immunization.

Vendors with pet-related items and contests for the best dog costume, best trick and hero dog are among the activities. Those attending will have an opportunity to meet service dogs, K-9 dogs and dogs looking for a forever home.

Those attending can also learn more about dogs’ health, owners can get photos made with their dog, and face painting and snacks are also available. In addition, there is a silent auction that includes dog and human items.

For additional information, contact Lynda Nash, director, at 870-972-2624.

The Beck PRIDE Center's mission is to provide combat wounded veterans with first class educational programs and services at Arkansas State University. These include access to higher education, resources for counseling, personal rehabilitation (including service dogs), advocacy and financial assistance.
