Bush Appointed to Direct Title IX and Institutional Equity
JONESBORO – Perdeta L. Bush was named director of Title IX and Institutional Equity for Arkansas State University this week. She joins A-State after four years at Penn State University Harrisburg where she served as the equity and compliance specialist the past two years.
Bush oversaw compliance efforts at Penn State Harrisburg related to Title IX, Clery Act and Violence Against Women Act as well as designing and delivering campus-wide training and programs related to the federal statutes.
“Perdeta brings a wealth of experience in both compliance and in education on these important issues for Arkansas State,” assistant vice chancellor for human resources Dr. Lori Winn said. “From listening to the feedback of our selection committee and her colleagues at Penn State Harrisburg, one of her strengths is her ability to educate and communicate with the wide range of audiences on campus. She will be highly involved in creating new outreach projects with our students, faculty and staff to enhance our current programs.”
She also developed and taught curriculum for mandatory First-Year Seminar for students which focused on PSU Harrisburg’s sexual misconduct and drug and alcohol policies. Bush began her career at Penn State Harrisburg in 2017 as a student affairs specialist working with the Title IX resource director.
Bush served as a charter member of the Council on Race, Ethnicity and Diversity established by the campus chancellor as well as a program planner for the university’s Diversity Series. She co-chaired the Penn State Harrisburg Reads program that provided a campus-wide shared experience among students.
In her four years prior to joining the staff full-time, Bush was a graduate and teaching assistant at Penn State Harrisburg, and she is in progress for her doctorate in adult education and lifelong learning.
Earning her bachelor’s degree at Georgia Southern, Bush completed her master's at the University of Georgia before joining PSU Harrisburg.
Bush replaces Stephanie Lott at Arkansas State as Lott became the director of the Office of Institutional Equity at Kansas State earlier this spring.
