Comedy, Music Events Added to Arkansas Science Festival
JONESBORO — A pair of events have been added to the Arkansas State University calendar for the Arkansas Science Festival that will feature science comedy, music and science.
“Stand Up. For Science!” is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 15, from 8:30 – 10 p.m. in the Reng Student Union auditorium.
After completing a crash-course in comedy, two of A-State’s faculty members, Dr. Virginie Rolland, associate professor of quantitative wildlife ecology, and Dr. John Artim, lecturer in biology, will perform stand-up comedy live on stage in Denver, Colo., along with other scientists. A watch party will be held at A-State with free food and entertainment. This event is sponsored by Science Riot, the Arkansas Science Festival, the King Foundation and A-State.

“Good Vibrations: The Science of Sound” will wind up the schedule, Saturday, Oct. 23, from noon to 3 p.m., at Huntington Square, the site for an afternoon of music and science. Musicians from the Delta Symphony Orchestra will discuss how they play their musical instrument and explain the science of sound production.
Featuring a variety of instruments, audience members can enjoy the performance and participate in craft activities. There will also be a drum circle. This event is free of charge and suitable for all ages and is presented by the Delta Symphony Orchestra, Arkansas Science Festival, and Huntington Square. Food is available for purchase.
