Culture Festival Highlights International Education Week Nov. 15-19
JONESBORO — International Programs at Arkansas State University will host a number of activities celebrating the influence and positive impact international students to the campus during International Education Week.
This special week features events each day beginning; Monday Nov. 15, through Friday Nov. 19, highlighted by a Culture Festival on Tuesday Nov. 16, from 6-8 p.m. in Centennial Hall at the Reng Student Union.
“International Education Week provides an opportunity for our students to share their unique cultural backgrounds with the A-State community,” said Mallory Yarbrough, director of International Programs and Study Abroad. “Whether it's trying a new game or making a fun craft at our culture fest; or even learning a new language at our event on Wednesday; and so much more, we hope you join us.
“Come support students at A-State who represent over 60 different countries and then learn how you can travel abroad to see those countries from our Study Abroad Office which will have a table during Tuesday's event.”
Members of the campus community are invited to attend and try international-based foods, play international-themed games and create new international crafts. It is an opportunity for attendees to learn more about a wide variety of cultures and engage in activities from around the world.
The schedule for the week is:
— Monday, Nov. 15: Paint Your World, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Reng Student Union lobby.
Paint a picture that represents what life is like in the students’ part of the world. Vote for the best life portrait and the winner will be announced Monday, Nov. 22.
— Tuesday, Nov. 16: International Culture activities, 6-8 p.m.
— Wednesday, Nov. 17: SELL (Speed Exchange of Language Learning, 3 – 5 p.m., Global Hub (International Programs building)
— Thursday, Nov. 18: Chalk art – student country flags, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Outside of Reg Student Union.
— Friday, Nov. 19: Puzzle of the World map game, 11:30 a.m. -2:30 p.m. Students, faculty, and staff can test their understanding and see what they know about how the world fits together. Student Union Lobby.
