Ellis Library Lighting for Graduating Students Continues A-State Commencement Tradition
JONESBORO – As dusk falls on the Arkansas State University campus Saturday evening, scarlet lighting will bathe the clock tower of the Dean B. Ellis Library.
In continuation of one of the A-State community’s newer traditions, the tower will be lighted overnight in salute to the university’s newest graduates following Spring Commencement Saturday morning. The lighting celebrates the students’ achievement of degree completion.
As an extension of the tradition, A-State also lights the tower as a salute to the graduates of local high schools and those conducting ceremonies on campus at First National Bank Arena. The lighting is in each school’s color around the time of its graduation ceremony.
The tower was gold for Nettleton High on May 1 and red for Brookland High on May 4, and it will be green for Ridgefield Christian School on May 9.
Next week it will be purple for Bay High on May 14; blue for Valley View High on May 15; blue for Paragould High on May 17; green for Greene County Tech on May 21; gold for Jonesboro High on May 22; red for East Poinsett County on May 23; and red for Westside High on May 24.
The tower salute schedule is also available on the university's online calendar.
