02/05/2016

JONESBORO – Those attending Arkansas State University’s annual Agribusiness Conference will hear from John Phipps, a farmer and commentator on the U.S. Farm Report, America's longest-running farm television program, at the luncheon.

This year’s conference, on Wednesday, Feb. 10, will focus on the agricultural economy, environmental law and regulation, business transition planning, trade policy and the commodity market outlook.

Phipps is a sixth-generation farmer who holds a degree in chemical engineering and a minor in economics.  He and family members farm 2,100 acres near Chrisman, Ill.

He has written humor and commentary for Farm Journal and Top Producer for 20 years, and he is a commentator for US Farm Report, which he hosted from 2005 to 2014.  He frequently speaks to groups on topics ranging from risk analysis to professional development.

In its 22nd year, the conference is continuing its tradition of timely information and education outreach to farmers, agribusiness professionals and educators across the Mid-South.

On-site registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. in the Fowler Center. Lunch will be served next door in the Convocation Center at noon; sessions continue into the afternoon.
