PIGGOTT – The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center (HPMEC) in Piggott is hosting a literary cocktail party, Saturday, April 2, from 6-8 p.m. Guests will be treated to an evening of food and fun in the Pfeiffer-Janes House.

The Literary Cocktail Party takes place alongside the museum’s American Short Fiction Reading Retreat, which will focus on short stories by American authors. The cost to participate in the retreat is $100, which includes a ticket to the party. The retreat will begin Friday night, April 1, and end with the party.

Retreat participants will discuss collections of stories by Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner and Flannery O’Connor. Copies of the books are included in the registration fee. In addition to discussions on the novels and the party, participants at the retreat will be treated to a movie screening the evening of Friday, April 1.

Tickets are $35, with proceeds benefitting the museum’s educational programming. Guests are asked to RSVP by Friday, March 25, by calling (870) 598-3487 or emailing adamlong@astate.edu.

Heavy hors d’oevres and cocktails will be served. Guests are invited to come dressed as their favorite figure from American literature. Though costumes aren’t required, a prize will be given to the choice for best costume.

HPMEC is an Arkansas State University Heritage Site at 1021 W. Cherry Street, Piggott, Ark. Tours are scheduled on the hour, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday 1-3 p.m.
