Ideas Invited for Naming New College
JONESBORO – Faculty, students, alumni and friends of the newly restructured academic college at Arkansas State are invited to forward their ideas on what the new name should be.
With the 2016-2017 school year getting underway, Dr. Carl Cates, dean, has posted a survey to solicit suggestions for the new college's name.
"It is now time to start the work of naming the restructured college," Cates said.
As part of a broader restructuring this year in Academic Affairs and Research, the departments in fine arts, media, communication, humanities and social sciences are now in one college. Possible names have been discussed, but no decisions have been made.
Individuals may submit their ideas through a survey link, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LFQ7YS3. Submitted suggestions will be reviewed by a committee composed of people nominated by department chairs.
Cates said this first step of submitting names will end Monday, Aug. 29.
"By Sept. 16 we plan to open a new link where the stakeholders can rank the top selections. Feedback will end on Sept. 23," he continued. "It is our hope to announce the name at Homecoming, Oct. 15."
