ITTC Faculty Center Hosts Teaching and Learning Symposium

11/14/2014

JONESBORO – The ITTC Faculty Center welcomed nearly 100 faculty and staff to its second annual "Teaching and Learning Symposium," recently at the Carl R. Reng Student Union.  The theme of the symposium was “Re-imagine Education.”

The symposium’s main focus was to provide attendees with opportunities to explore and examine various teaching and learning pedagogies, as well as curriculum and assessment strategies for both traditional and online classes.

Attendees were able to engage in presentations by 12 A-State faculty and several educational technology partners.

Dr. Gina Hogue, vice chancellor for academic services, welcomed the attendees and encouraged them to use the many educational technologies currently available on campus to enhance and improve their teaching and learning.

Jorge Salinas, senior solutions engineer of Blackboard North American Division, provided the keynote presentation, “Blackboard’s Role in the Advancement of Pedagogy in Higher Education.”

H. Steve Leslie, interim director for the ITTC Faculty Center, was exceptionally pleased with the tremendous support of this year’s event and expects the attendance to double for the 2015 Teaching and Learning Symposium. The event is held every October as a forum for faculty to share their research and experience in both the traditional and online classroom.
